The Site

Half Moon Bay's coastline sets the terms: constant wind, salt air, and strict setback rules, paired with erosion and drainage considerations on a site above the water. The build also had to stay quiet — the surrounding neighborhood is a residential area where noise and disruption carry real weight.

The Engineering

The response was corrosion-resistant hardware and thorough waterproofing specified throughout, built to stand up to the site's constant wind and salt air over time. The harder problem turned out to be bureaucracy, not construction: the project needed sign-off from a long list of departments before work could proceed, more review than a typical inland site, and keeping that approval process moving took as much coordination as the build itself.
